Woman robbed at Columbia car wash

COLUMBIA — A woman was robbed at gunpoint Monday evening while cleaning her automobile at a Paris Road car wash, according to a news release.

The woman described the robber as a man with a skinny build and a height of about 5 feet 10 inches.

The victim told police a man approached her from behind and demanded her purse. She initially refused and attempted to get into her car. The robber then threatened the victim with a handgun, took her purse and left. The victim was not injured.

According to the release, the man then fled the scene in a dark vehicle of unknown make or model.

The robbery occured at 8:15 p.m. at 1722 Paris Road. Anyone with information is asked to give their tips via the CrimeStoppers Web site.

Perhaps the name of the car wash should have been included in the story?
