KANSAS CITY — A man who fled after a court hearing and led authorities on a multi-city chase with five youths and a pregnant woman inside a stolen sport utility vehicle has been arrested in Kansas City.

Jackson County Undersheriff Hugh Mills said he learned from Lafayette County authorities that the man had been sentenced Thursday to 10 days in jail for driving with a revoked license.

Afterward, Mills said, the man got into the SUV and drove about 30 miles before the chase began on Interstate 70 outside Grain Valley.

Mills said the man leaned out of his car and taunted officers and attempted to hit four of them.

The man abandoned the SUV and fled on foot after three of his tires were punctured. He was arrested a short time later and is being held in Jackson County on suspicion of child endangerment and assault on police officers.
