COLUMBIA — The Hickman Kewpies track team fell to Jefferson City at the teams' dual meet on Friday.
The Jays beat Hickman on both the boys and girls sides.
“We didn’t really load up the roster. We tried new things out because of districts coming up,” Hickman jumps coach Stewart Johnson said.
Highlights for the Kewpies included two first place throws for sophomore Sarah Hall. A 40-4 throw in the shot and a 112-0 throw in the discus completed her night.
Senior Josh Harvey won the shot put with a throw of 56-5 and teammate Evan Conrad placed first in the discus with a throw of 153 feet.
Evan Smith performed well in the sprints for Hickman. He moved to Columbia from St. Louis and will be on the varsity team next year.
“He has been shining all season long for us,” head coach Steve Kissane said.
The 4 x 400-meter relay team of Terrell Shannon, Jimmie Garth, Marcus Whitt, and Al Cade ran a time of 3 minutes, 29 seconds.
Jordan Flemming won the 800 meters with a time of 2:02.
Alex Nail placed second in the 1600 meters with a time of 4:48.
The Stevenson sisters, Nasia and Taalor had a 1-2 finish in the 400 meter dash. Nasia Stevenson placed first in the 400 with a time of 59.6 seconds and Taalor Stevenson placed second with a time of 60.24.
