CRYSTAL CITY — The condition of the 3-year-old Missouri boy who spent 52 hours lost in the woods of the Mark Twain National Forest has been upgraded to good from fair.
Joshua Childers remains at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City.
The toddler slipped out of his family's home just before noon Monday, leading to a frantic search involving hundreds of rescuers and volunteers. He survived the chill of night, rain, rugged terrain and wild animals until he was finally found Wednesday afternoon in remarkably good condition.
A hospital spokesman said doctors have kept the boy just to make certain everything is checked out and to treat dehydration.
