COLUMBIA — Police have taken five suspects into custody in connection with a string of recent armed robberies believed to be connected.
Avery Nelson, 18, Wesley Nelson, 19, and Devin Jackson, 17, were arrested over the past two days. Two juvenile suspects were also taken into custody.
The first robbery took place April 19 at 707 Old Plank Road. On April 29, police responded to a burglary at New York Fashion Store at 601 Business Loop 70 West. The third robbery was May 4 at 3700 Bent Oak.
Avery and Wesley Nelson were arrested in connection with the Bent Oak robbery, as were Jackson and one of the juvenile suspects, who was also arrested in connection with the Old Plank robbery. Jackson was also arrested in connection with the New York Fashion burglary, along with both juvenile suspects.
According to a release from the Columbia Police Department, the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are likely.
