KANSAS CITY — A 2-year-old boy died after a pickup truck backed into him in a home driveway in Kansas City.

Police said the toddler was playing in his front yard Friday afternoon when he wandered over to a gravel driveway adjoining the home. A 34-year-old-man backed out in his pickup truck and hit the boy.

Police said at least one person was outside supervising the child, but family members said it all happened too fast to be prevented.

Family members drove the toddler to the hospital, where he died a short time later.

Police do not know yet if any charges will be filed.
