ST. CHARLES — St. Charles police have identified a body found floating in a creek in February as that of a 46-year-old South Carolina man.

Detective Derek Piasecki said the body was identified as Richard Wakefield of Myrtle Beach, S.C. Two children found the body floating in Cole Creek. Piasecki said police do not know why he was in St. Charles.

Piasecki said police do not suspect foul play and are calling the death accidental. An autopsy showed that Wakefield drowned, and his blood-alcohol level was 0.22.
