Columbia police seize drugs, arrest two

COLUMBIA — Two Columbia men were arrested Saturday on suspicion of drug possession and child endangerment.

Police arrived at 5509 Volunteer Drive about 6:15 p.m. and seized felony amounts of marijuana, several ounces of cocaine and psilocybin mushrooms, Columbia police Sgt. Roger Schlude said in a news release.

Police also seized various calibers of ammunition, a handgun and gas masks, Schlude said.

Christian Thames, 31, was arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine and marijuana for distribution, possession of mushrooms and child endangerment.

Jeffrey Skaggs, 24, was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana and child endangerment, Schlude said.

Police said four children ages 5 and younger were in the presence of drugs and a loaded handgun.

The incident remains under investigation.
