DE SOTO, Mo. — A school district that serves 350 elementary schoolchildren in Jefferson and St. Francois counties has canceled classes for the day.

Bus drivers for the Sunrise R-9 district arrived Tuesday morning to find the headlights and tail lights smashed out of all 11 of its school buses.

Administrative assistant Kerry Waddell says there's no way to know yet who vandalized the buses, which were located in a lot in De Soto. She said classes may resume Wednesday.

It's sad that somebody would destroy stuff like that. Sounds like something that would happen in Sturgeon
