ST. LOUIS — The former chief of a St. Louis-area fire protection district has been sentenced to probation and six months of house arrest for stealing more than $30,000 from the district.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported on its Web site that David Jetton was sentenced Tuesday afternoon in federal court.
The 54-year-old from Dellwood was chief of the Metro North Fire Protection District until resigning in June 2006.
Federal prosecutors accused him of defrauding the district of $30,000 to $70,000.
However, a district civil suit claimed that he had taken more than $200,000. The suit settled for $100,000.
