JEFFERSON CITY — Gov. Jay Nixon has ordered that all U.S. and Missouri flags at state buildings be flown at half-staff on Memorial Day.

Nixon ordered the lowered flags to honor Lt. Roslyn L. Schulte, a Ladue woman who was killed while on duty near Kabul, Afghanistan. A memorial service for Schulte is scheduled for Monday.

The 25-year-old Schulte was a 2002 graduate of John Burroughs High School and a 2006 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy. She had been assigned to the Pacific Air Forces Command, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii.

Nixon also ordered flags flown at half-staff in St. Louis County from May 26 to May 31 in honor of Schulte.
