JEFFERSON CITY — A man has been arrested at Missouri's Capitol after authorities said he yelled and stomped on the official state seal.

Capitol Police said James Bohling, 42, of Cole County, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of misdemeanor assault for allegedly pushing a tour guide during the disturbance.

Tourists said Bohling stomped on the bronze state seal that is roped off in the rotunda, and he yelled something about "diplomatic immunity."

Police said Bohling then ran past a group of children and pushed a tour guide. The tourists who witnessed the incident said a Capitol Police officer then tackled Bohling.

Missouri Democratic Party Spokesman Jack Cardetti said Gov. Jay Nixon heard the disturbance from his office on the second floor.

A local phone number for a J. Bohling was disconnected.
