Missouri man gets 15 years for multiple alcohol offenses

ST. LOUIS — A St. Charles man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for being a chronic offender after compiling seven alcohol-related driving and boating offenses.

Prosecutors argued that 46-year-old Anthony Roberson wouldn't benefit from a shorter prison sentence that included treatment because he refuses to admit that he has a drinking problem.

Roberson was involved in a double-fatal crash caused by alcohol 30 years ago. He was convicted by a jury last month of being a chronic offender.

His attorney described him as an alcoholic who had a "horrific past" and deserved the minimum sentence of five years. But Circuit Judge Ted House didn't agree and gave Roberson the maximum sentence instead.
