Rock Bridge tied for eighth and Hickman placed 10th Saturday in the Class 4 boys state track and field finals at Lincoln University in Jefferson City. In the girls meet, Hickman tied for 15th and Rock Bridge finished in a seven-way tie for 39th.
A second-place in the 4 x 200-meter relay was the Bruins' top boys performance. Marcus Buford, Austin Luecke, Chris Walton and Quinn Gray finished in 1 minute and 27.39 seconds. Hazelwood East won in 1:26.98.
Walton also was fourth in the 200 meters and sixth in the 100, while Luecke was sixth in the 110-meter hurdles.
Hickman's boys athletes also excelled in the relays. The Kewpies' Jimmie Garth, Al Cade, Jordan Fleming and Terrell Shannon were third in the 4 x 800 relay in 7:56, and Garth, Marcus Whitt, Cody Rios and Shannon were fourth in the 4 x 400 relay in 3:21.
Hickman's Josh Harvey was third in a tough boys shot put competition at 59-1/2. Lee Summit West's Brooks Mosier won at 60-1 3/4. The Kewpies' Wesley Leftwich was sixth in the long jump and 11th in 100 meters.
Hickman's Victoria Jackson was third in girls long jump at 17-9 and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles, while Sarah Hall was third for the Kewpies in the shot put at 41-3. Rock Bridge's Lauren Flaker was sixth in the 100 meters at 12.22.
