KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The curator at Kansas City's Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art has taken a job in Salina, Kan.
Chris Cook has been named executive director/curator of the Salina Art Center in central Kansas. He starts his new post on July 1.
The museum plans a national search for his replacement, but might name an interim curator.
The 34-year-old joined Kemper in 2006 as assistant curator and was promoted in 2007.
With budget cuts, most of Cook's recent work focused on the permanent collection, as the 2009 schedule contains only two special exhibitions with Cook's stamp on them.
At the Salina Art Center, Cook will continue to organize exhibits while taking on the responsibilities of director.
