Missouri congressman to speak on behalf of condemned inmate

ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis congressman is among those scheduled to speak on behalf of Reggie Clemons, who is scheduled to die by injection in just over two weeks.

Democratic U.S. Rep. William Lacy Clay will speak at a news conference at noon Monday, along with Redditt Hudson of the American Civil Liberties Union and other supporters, including Clemons' mother.

Clemons is scheduled to die a minute after midnight June 17 for the 1991 murders of two young sisters who were thrown from the abandoned Chain of Rocks Bridge in St. Louis in 1991.

Supporters say Clemons didn't have any role in the killings. He was one of four men convicted in the crime. One of the others, Marlin Gray, was executed in 2005.
