COLUMBIA — A collision that resulted in extrication hospitalized two on Tuesday night, said Columbia Fire Department Battalion Chief Gary Warren.

Warren said the head-on collision occurred at about 7:45 p.m. at 707 Old Plank Road between a green Honda Accord and a black Toyota Tacoma. The driver's side door of the Accord was taken off so the female driver could be removed, he said.

"It was a very quick extrication, I can tell you that," Warren said.

The driver of the Accord was conscious and transported to University Hospital with moderate injuries, Warren said.  The driver of the Tacoma was also transported to University Hospital with moderate injuries. The passenger of the Tacoma refused medical treatment for minor cuts, he said.

Warren said both the Fire Department and the Boone County Fire Protection District responded to the incident.
