Boone County law enforcement seeks sex offender

COLUMBIA — A Boone County sex offender with an extensive criminal history is being sought by local law enforcement for failing to register.

Steven Wayne Bowen, 38, is white with blue eyes and brown hair. He is 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds, according to a news release from the Boone County Sheriff's Department.

Bowen's last known addresses were in the Mauller Road area and the Columbia Regency Trailer Park. He has also been known to visit Mexico, Mo., and Fulton, the release said.

Bowen has four previous convictions for failing to register as a sex offender, according to the news release.

In 2003, Bowen was convicted in Callaway County for first-degree sexual misconduct involving a female child. His criminal history includes convictions for burglary and arson, the release said.
