COLUMBIA — While Hobby Lobby patrons were checking out their items at the front of the store, a store manager was being robbed at gunpoint in a rear office.
According to a report from the Columbia Police Department, at approximately 6:45 p.m. the suspect approached 43-year-old assistant store manager Kimberly MacLeod in the rear of the store. He brandished a handgun and told her to take him to the store's office area. The suspect then tied MacLeod up and stole an unknown amount of cash, the report said.
After completing their purchases, the remaining customers were escorted past lines of crime scene tape blocking both of the entrances while Columbia Police Department officers searched the store.
No injuries were reported, and the suspect escaped the store without detection.
"He's vapor," said Columbia Police Lt. Craig Young of the male suspect.
MacLeod described the suspect as a white male in his late 50s who looked to be about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighed 160 pounds. He was clean shaven with short hair and wore blue jeans, a short-sleeved T-shirt and a baseball cap.
