COLUMBIA — A new arrest has been made in connection to last weekend's assault and robbery in a downtown parking garage.
Columbia Police took a juvenile male into custody at about 7 p.m. Wednesday, according to a news release from the department. The juvenile was arrested on suspicion of second-degree robbery.
Four other suspects were arrested Monday, but police are seeking two additional suspects.
“Five have been arrested, and we are attempting to positively identify and take in at least two more (suspects),” Sgt. Ken Hammond said.
Adam Taylor, 25, of Columbia was assaulted and robbed early Saturday morning at a parking garage at 100 S. Tenth St. by a group of males, according to police.
Police identified three suspects from a video recording of the incident taken by a garage camera.
Public Information Officer Jessie Haden said the attack was unusually vicious and "concerning." "It wasn't just a case of just shove you against the wall and give me your money," she said.
The Major Crimes Unit is investigating the incident.
