PrintFULTON — Callaway County health officials have confirmed one case of swine flu and suspect another member of the same family may also have the virus.
Callaway County Health Administrator Sharon Lynch would not disclose the family's name, but said the one case was confirmed on Thursday. She said the individuals have been advised to stay home for seven days or 24 hours after their symptoms ease, whichever is longer.
The number of confirmed swine flu cases in Missouri is now 51, with one death linked to the virus.
The World Health Organization on Thursday declared swine flu a global pandemic.

I'm slightly confused why the media continues to refer to this as 'swine flu' instead of H1N1 flu (like it actually is). The only reason people refer to it in this manner is because pigs were the primary reservoir of this subtype. The name 'swine flu' has caused agencies to spend countless hours reassuring the public that it can't be transmitted through pork products.
Calling it 'swine flu' is wrong. We didn't name the other subtypes of flu seen last fall based on their reservoir so why do it with this one? Doing so just causes panic among people that don't fully understand how the influenza virus works.
