MANSFIELD — The Humane Society of Missouri said dogs seized from a puppy mill in Mansfield showed signs of neglect.
The Springfield News-Leader reports that investigators seized 72 dogs and one rabbit from the property Friday. Humane Society spokeswoman Jeane Jae said the dogs had poor coats, eye and skin problems, tumors and overgrown claws.
She said the raid started earlier Friday when Webster County investigators learned that two people running a puppy mill near Seymour had been evicted. They later found out the people had moved across the Wright County line near Mansfield.
About half of the animals were taken to a shelter in Carthage and the others were taken to St. Louis.
Authorities haven't released information on any criminal charges.
