COLUMBIA — With local streams already rain-swollen, the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Boone County from 9 p.m. Monday through Tuesday morning.
The watch covered a large swath of north, central and western Missouri counties.
By late Monday afternoon, Perche Creek at the Twin Bridges just north of Columbia was nearly bank full from rain that fell earlier in the day. Route E at that location is one of numerous area roads that tends to flood after heavy rains.
The Weather Service forecast additional thunderstorms to redevelop over Missouri during Monday night and spread east, dropping rain on ground that's already saturated.
