JEFFERSON CITY — A Winston Churchill museum on the campus of Westminster College has gained some national clout.
A resolution passed by the U.S. House declares it to be "America's National Churchill Museum."
The
former British prime minister delivered his famous "Iron Curtain"
speech in 1946 on the Westminster campus in Fulton. The speech warned
of attempts by the Soviet Union to spread its communist control.
The
Churchill museum is located underneath a 17th century London church
that was moved stone-by-stone and rebuilt in Missouri. The campus also
has a section of the former Berlin Wall and a bronze statue of
Churchill.
The resolution was sponsored by Rep. Blaine
Luetkemeyer and co-sponsored by the rest of
Missouri's congressional delegation.
