The Columbia Police Department's Professional Standards Unit has concluded that an accident in which Columbia police Officer Alan Mitchell struck and killed Jeremy Setzer, 24, lying in Clark Lane in March was not preventable.

However, Mitchell was "disciplined" for driving 40 mph in a 30-mph zone at the accident location, according to a police department news release this morning.

Check back with the Missourian for more details later.
