COLUMBIA — The MU Police Department has arrested one suspect in connection with the June 13 robbery at the Hitt Street parking garage.

Investigators arrested a 15-year-old suspect on suspicion of second-degree robbery and first-degree trespassing at 10:22 a.m. Wednesday, according to a news release from the MU Police Department.

MU Police Capt. Brian Weimer said the victim has been cooperative in the investigation.

MU police are still looking for a second suspect in the robbery. One perpetrator has been described as a black male between the ages of 16 and 18 and between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall with short hair that might be a buzz cut, the release stated.

MU police are also seeking public input in locating a potential witness who was turning around near the west entrance of the garage before the robbery. The driver of the car might have seen the suspects before the robbery, Weimer said.

The driver isn't considered a suspect in the robbery and isn't believed to have been involved, according to the release.

Asking for community help in news releases often garners help for the MU Police Department, Weimer said. Pictures are available at mupolice.com/pr/archive/2009/8-2009.php.

Weimer said it's possible this incident is related to one that happened in a downtown parking garage June 6, but he said there's nothing linking the two incidents at this time.

The MU Police Department is not releasing further details, Weimer said.
