JEFFERSON CITY — Gov. Jay Nixon has picked a former aide for a spot on a commission that resolves disputes involving state agencies.

Nixon nominated Joseph Bindbeutel of Columbia to the state Administrative Hearing Commission on Wednesday. It's Bindbeutel's second appointment in two months.

In April, Nixon tapped Bindbeutel for the Public Service Commission, which regulates utilities. But the Senate never acted, and the appointment was withdrawn.

Bindbeutel can take a spot on the Administrative Hearing Commission immediately because the legislature is not in session. He still must be confirmed when the Senate reconvenes.

A spokesman for Nixon said he's not aware of any problems that arose during the initial appointment.

Bindbeutel is deputy director of the Department of Natural Resources.
