Missouri receives $22.9 million from stimulus for energy program

JEFFERSON CITY — Missouri will use $22.9 million from the federal stimulus package to promote energy efficiency among consumers, businesses and farms.

Department of Natural Resources Director Mark Templeton said Thursday some of the money will go to help people and businesses implement suggestions from energy audits. The audits offer specialized instructions for how to make a building more energy efficient.

Missouri also will use the funds to find ways to link economic development with energy efficiency efforts.

The money is coming through the U.S. Department of Energy. Missouri is eligible to receive an additional $28.6 million after showing that its energy plans have been implemented.
