Nineteen arrested during Friday night sobriety checkpoint

COLUMBIA — Eight people were arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated during a sobriety checkpoint late Friday night and early Saturday morning.

Area law enforcement checked about 420 vehicles from 11 p.m Friday to 2:30 a.m. Saturday on Highway 763 at Brown School Road in Columbia, according to a news release from the Boone County Sheriff's Department.

Six people were arrested on suspicion of driving with a suspended or revoked license. Police also made three arrests related to outstanding warrants and two adult liquor law violation arrests, the release said.

Eight summonses were issued for no insurance, and one summons was issued for no driver's license.

Two warnings for vehicle registration violations, 13 warnings for equipment violations and four warnings for seat belt violations were also issued, the release said.
