On Thursday, the nation was overwhelmed with tragedy in the entertainment industry. Before the shocking death of infamous singing and dancing sensation Michael Jackson, fans mourned the loss of the beautiful Farrah Fawcett after she passed away at the age of 62.

The iconic 1970s sex symbol will be remembered as one of the original goddesses of glam. Although she had played several small roles previously, Fawcett's legacy were her appearances on "Charlie's Angels." Fawcett's feathery hair and stunning features captivated audiences of the era. Her style and beauty encapsulated a generation.

Her career continued to flourish beyond the '70s as she was cast for Emmy winning films such as "The Burning Bed." Her December 1995 appearance in Playboy sold more than 4 million copies worldwide.

In September 2006, Fawcett was diagnosed with anal cancer. Soon it was clear the disease had spread to her liver and she had stopped receiving treatment. In an intensely emotional and personal documentary, Farrah shared her struggles through treatment and the effects it had on her relationship with Ryan O'Neal. Her suffering depicted that of thousands of cancer patients throughout the nation. Fans gained a new respect for the icon as they witnessed her strength and fortitude.

Actress, pin-up girl, director, and mother, Farrah showed her strength gracefully in all walks of life.
