COLUMBIA — One of two teens arrested on suspicion of sexual assault Saturday has been charged with forcible rape, according to a filing in the 13th Circuit Court for Boone County.

Joshua Cortez Dent, 19, was charged on Tuesday after posting a $25,000 bond. The other teenager suspected in the incident, Preston Xavier Glasgow, 17, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of sexual assault and has an arraignment scheduled for July 23. Assistant Boone County Prosecutor Andrew Scholz said the prosecutor's office plans to decide whether to charge Glasgow in connection with the crime sometime before the arraignment.

According to a probable cause statement, Dent and Glasgow were drinking with the victim early Saturday morning at her home in Columbia. At some point, the teens held her down and sexually assaulted her, according to the statement. The victim's roommate called the police when Dent and Glasgow left.

Dent told police that the encounter was “completely consensual,” and that everyone present was drinking a lot of alcohol, according to the statement. But Glasgow told police that "things got out of hand," and that what happened "wasn't right," though he later recanted his statement.

The Police Department did not issue a news release about the Saturday incident.
