PrintCOLUMBIA — A Columbia man has been charged in connection with a string of June commercial burglaries, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.
Gregory D. Holden, 22, had initially been arrested on suspicion of committing five burglaries as of Monday morning, Officer Jessie Haden said in the news release. By Monday afternoon, however, detectives had withdrawn two arrests because of a lack of evidence. The detectives still think the crimes are related and will continue their investigation, Haden said.
Holden is facing three charges of second-degree burglary and one charge of receiving stolen property, according to Missouri Case.net.
The charges stem from a June 22 burglary of KT Diamond Jewelers, 2101 Corona Road, and June 27 and June 30 burglaries of Gary B. Robinson Jewelers, 1608 Chapel Hill Road. Jewelry was stolen in all three incidents.
Holden was arrested on suspicion of burglary on July 1, a Boone County Jail employee said. He was brought into custody July 2 and released on a $13,500 bond that afternoon.
Police are investigating 22 commercial burglaries that occurred in June, the news release stated.
