COLUMBIA — A man stole a city-owned truck and attempted to run over a female victim Saturday morning, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.
According to the news release, at 10:15 a.m., police responded to a domestic disturbance call at 1510 Tupelo Place, where they found that a man had attempted to run over the victim, a 37-year-old female, with a gray Chevrolet truck that witnesses described as a Columbia Public Works truck.
The victim was not injured.
According to the news release, police arrested Floyd Eugene Lee, 49, of Columbia at approximately 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Orange and Jackson streets, where he was on foot. Officers found the Public Works truck on the 700 block of Sexton Road, where they discovered it had sustained extensive damage from striking a nearby Downtown Appliance truck that was parked.
Lee was arrested on suspicion of second-degree domestic assault, leaving the scene of an accident and motor vehicle theft. All charges are felonies and each carries a bond of $4,500.
