ST. LOUIS — St. Louis should enjoy as much as $60 million in financial windfall for hosting baseball's All-Star Game, according to the St. Louis Regional Chamber & Growth Association.
Ruth Sergenian, chief economist for the association, said that includes $33 million in direct spending by visitors for hotels, dining, shopping, transportation and entertainment.
She said another $27 million will be felt as a ripple effect as the money spent recycles through the local economy.
Sergenian said the expected $60 million All-Star boost is about the same as when St. Louis hosted the men's college basketball Final Four in 2005.
