PrintROLLA — A student group at Missouri University of Science and Technology has canceled a humanitarian trip to Honduras next month.
Political unrest in the Central American country, including a presidential coup, prompted the decision. Students at the Rolla school hope to reschedule the trip for December and January.
About 20 members of the Engineers Without Borders student chapter had planned to travel to the Honduran town of Santiago in August to help improve drinking water systems.
Last year, students from Missouri S&T installed a 2,000-gallon water tank in the same town. They also built rainwater collection systems and provided water systems for homes.

A real pity a newspaper run by a journalism school can't get the facts straight ... there was no coup. But then, in their defense, they are merely parroting the official line of what passes for intelligence in the White House whose got it wrong as well.
On June 26, President Zelaya issued a decree ordering all government employees to take part in the "Public Opinion Poll to convene a National Constitutional Assembly." In doing so, Zelaya triggered a constitutional provision that automatically removed him from office. The Honduran Supreme Court ordered him out, and the military carried out the orders.
I challenge anyone to refute these facts.

We're thrilled that at least the Associated Press realizes there's a university campus located in Rolla, Missouri and that they can even can get the name of that campus correct. KOMU weather forecasters thus far haven't managed to do that. :(
