PrintST. LOUIS — The parents of a soldier from New York who recently finished training at Ft. Leonard Wood are seeking to block her overseas deployment, alleging that an Army recruiter misled the family.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that the parents of Hillary J. Poole of Savannah, N.Y., filed a federal lawsuit Friday in Springfield. Poole is scheduled to be shipped Thursday to St. Louis. From there, she is slated to go to Germany before arriving in Afghanistan in October.
The suit says Poole's mother signed her name and her husband's name to enlistment papers in February after being told that the paperwork simply allowed the Army to take her then 17-year-old daughter for an overnight evaluation. The suit says her father never gave consent.
A Ft. Leonard Wood spokesman said the Army won't be able to comment before Monday.

Consent?? She left for Basic training which is 9 weeks long. If they thought they were only signing something for a "overnight" evaluation you would think they would have done something before now.
There's no Santy Claus and there's no escape clause.
Do both parents need to sign?
Is there a forgery clause?
Is there a notary clause?
Army recruiters have a quota to fill.
Do what you can to save your daughter.
It will be interesting to see how this accusation of being misled plays out....
