Columbia man injured in car accident identified

COLUMBIA — Authorities have identified a Columbia man injured in a two-vehicle collision Friday morning in southeast Columbia.

Marion H. Watson, 67, was seriously injured when a pickup truck collided with his 1984 Ford Crown Victoria at the intersection of Highway WW and Rangeline Road.

Watson was in serious condition at University Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said Saturday morning.

Truck driver Barry Barnes, 32, of Columbia was not injured. Trooper Brad Germann of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said Barnes received a citation for failure to yield. He was wearing a seat belt, while Watson was not, Germann said. Alcohol is not suspected in the crash, Germann said.
