COLUMBIA — Area law enforcement arrested 15 people on suspicion of driving while intoxicated during a sobriety checkpoint conducted late Saturday night and early Sunday in Columbia.
About 610 vehicles were checked and 33 arrests were made during the checkpoint between 11 p.m. Saturday and 3 a.m. Sunday at Highway 63 South and Stadium Boulevard, according to a news release from the Boone County Sheriff's Department.
Authorities also made two drug-related arrests, with one for suspected possession of marijuana and one for suspected possession of drug paraphernalia.
Seven people were arrested on suspicion of driving with a suspended or revoked license, the release said. One arrest was made for suspected unlawful use of a weapon, and one arrest was made for suspected child endangerment.
Authorities also arrested one person for suspected adult liquor law violations and made six arrests related to not having an operator's license.
