Exotic animals showcased at the Boone County Fair petting zoo

Hedrick's Exotic Animal Farm brought a selection of its baby exotic animals to the Boone County Fair on Friday. The animals were part of the fair's petting zoo. Featured animals included an alpaca, a llama, a Patagonian cavy, a miniature zebu, potbellied pigs, an emu and a giraffe.

A 5-month-old giraffe was a popular attraction at the exotic animal petting zoo at the Boone County Fair on Friday. Although this giraffe is still small enough to travel with the petting zoo, a worker said he's expected to grow to about 18 feet tall.   ¦  Cassandra Leap

A baby brown alpaca watches as children go from cage to cage looking at the animals. The alpaca is part of the exotic animal petting zoo at the Boone County Fair. Alpacas have fleecy wool that can grow up to 2 feet long. They are smaller than llamas and are now domesticated animals.   ¦  Zack Aldrich
