ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis judge is demanding a jury trial over the ticket he got because of a red-light camera.

Robert Dierker has also asked a fellow circuit judge to dismiss the case, claiming the ticket violates his constitutional rights.

Neither Dierker nor St. Louis City Counselor Patricia Hageman would discuss the case with the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Dierker said only that he would let the case work its way through the legal system.

A trial has been set for Sept. 28.

Dierker's legal challenge of the red-light cameras is not the first.

Ann Horner, an attorney with the Traffic Law Center, said that she thinks "every argument has been made." She added that until someone takes the issue to the Court of Appeals, the camera tickets in St. Louis are legal.
