Five sent to hospital after three-car accident

A three-car accident at the corner of Brown Station Road and Route B in Columbia on Wednesday sent five to the hospital.

COLUMBIA — Five people were transported to a local hospital Wednesday after a three-vehicle accident near Brown Station Road and Route B, according to a news release from the Columbia Fire Department.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., the Columbia Fire Department arrived at the scene to find four children and one adult standing outside of a white 2004 Dodge Durango. The four children sustained various minor injuries and the adult driver, their grandmother, was suspected of having a broken ankle. They were all placed on backboards and brought to the hospital.

A blue Dodge truck and a white Budget moving van were also involved, according to the release. Two drivers and a passenger from the other vehicles were uninjured.

The Columbia Police Department is investigating the accident, the release said. They could not be reached for comment.
