COLUMBIA —  A 26-year-old Columbia man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.

Jeremy Irby was arrested at about 2:30 p.m. in the 3500 block of New Haven Road, according to a Boone County Sheriff's Department news release.

Sgt. James Perkins said Irby had a “small amount” of cocaine and six pills for which he did not have a prescription. Deputies found the drugs in “plain view” in Irby’s vehicle, according to a news release.

Perkins said deputies found the drugs after responding to a call Irby made to the department, the subject of which Perkins could not disclose.

Irby’s bond was set at $9,000.
