JEFFERSON CITY — Gov. Jay Nixon has a new title — Distinguished Eagle Scout.
The award will be presented to Nixon next year by the Great Rivers Council of the Boy Scouts of America, as part of the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts.
Nixon attained the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 13 as part of a Boy Scout troop in his home town of De Soto in 1969.
Fewer than one out of every 1,000 Eagle Scouts ultimately receives the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award.
