Shooting victim released from hospital

COLUMBIA — A Columbia teenager injured in a Friday afternoon shooting has been released from the hospital, he told the Missourian on Tuesday.

The 15-year-old victim was walking eastbound on Benton Road Friday when a gunman pulled alongside him and fired three shots before fleeing the area, police said.

The teen was wounded in the hand and leg, but the wounds were not considered life threatening.

Police are still searching for William Darnell McNeary, 24, who is wanted on suspicion of first-degree assault and armed criminal action, according to a news release.
