JEFFERSON CITY —The Missouri Department of Conservation is sponsoring a special dove hunt for those with limited mobility.
The Conservation Department and the National Wild Turkey Federation are sponsoring the hunt on Sept. 3 at Ten Mile Pond Conservation Area in Mississippi County. Up to 30 hunters with wheelchairs, crutches or prosthetics will be allowed to hunt doves in a reserved area.
Members of the National Wild Turkey Federation are to serve as guides. They will assist hunters and retrieve downed doves. Hunters must have permits for small-game and migratory birds and hunter education cards.

Doves are such beautiful birds, and so trusting, and slow moving ... why would anyone want to shoot them? It is never a game to kill ... killing something of beauty is not a sport!
i agree why would anyone want to shoot birds just for sport,no animal or bird deserves that.i am against animal hunts and against bird hunts.
Perhaps they chose birds with limited mobility so they were easier to shoot by people with limited mobility?
Because Doves are great eating. :)
