McCaskill talks health care reform in southeast Missouri

KENNETT — Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill's first town hall meeting on health care reform took place without incident Monday morning.

McCaskill was scheduled to visit rural southeast Missouri on Monday for a series of public meetings on President Obama's proposed health care overhaul. She is scheduled to meet with hospital workers in Hayti and the public in Poplar Bluff after the forum at Southeast Missouri State University's Kennett campus.

The sessions come amid growing public protests over the reform plans Congress will consider after its summer break. A public meeting in St. Louis hosted by Democratic Rep. Russ Carnahan last week ended in a melee with six arrests, including a St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter.

In fact, McCaskill's health care forum at a school in the St. Louis suburb of University City scheduled for Tuesday was canceled by the school over safety concerns.

Socialized health care with the government deciding whether it is worthwhile for you to receive medical help or not is a terrible idea.

This country is almost bankrupt, Social Security is in financial trouble and Medicare is also in financial jeopardy.

Over 40% of the cost of this proposal would be funded by cuts to the Medicare program, so the old would go untreated and at this stage in their life could do nothing about it.

You can be sure that at next election, health care will be extended to illegal aliens at your expense so that politicians can win the support of ethnic groups.

Socialized health care will destroy the quality of medical care you receive while at the same time bankrupting your children and grandchildren.

Incidentially, I am just a concerned individual, not a member of any organization or political party.

You do NOT want the dirty hands of government involved in your medical decisions. I guarantee your health care will be rationed and ultimately care will be denied to the very sick or the old--their lives simply won't be deemed worth the expense by the politicians.

Nationalized health care is a dangerous program and if you value your freedom and health you will get actively involved in stopping it.

Mr. Humm, can you cite anything at all to back up your claims and "guarantees"?
