KENNETT — Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill's first town hall meeting on health care reform took place without incident Monday morning.

McCaskill was scheduled to visit rural southeast Missouri on Monday for a series of public meetings on President Obama's proposed health care overhaul. She is scheduled to meet with hospital workers in Hayti and the public in Poplar Bluff after the forum at Southeast Missouri State University's Kennett campus.

The sessions come amid growing public protests over the reform plans Congress will consider after its summer break. A public meeting in St. Louis hosted by Democratic Rep. Russ Carnahan last week ended in a melee with six arrests, including a St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter.

In fact, McCaskill's health care forum at a school in the St. Louis suburb of University City scheduled for Tuesday was canceled by the school over safety concerns.
