Afghanistan agricultural official to attend Missouri State Fair

JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri State Fair typically draws agricultural leaders from around the state. This year, it also will have an agricultural official from Afghanistan.
Sen. Kit Bond said the agriculture director of Afghanistan's Nangarhar Province will be joining him at the fair Friday in Sedalia.

Bond said the official — Safi Mohammad Hussein — plans to talk to Missouri farmers, ranchers and researchers about how to apply some of their techniques to agriculture in Afghanistan.
The Missouri National Guard is hosting the agriculture director on his visit to Missouri. For more than a year, Missouri National Guard members have been teaching agricultural skills to farmers in Nangarhar Province.
