Columbia police stop dozens of vehicles downtown

COLUMBIA — Over the course of four hours Friday downtown, officers with the Columbia Police Department's Traffic Unit stopped 36 vehicles for various traffic violations.

The effort was part of a special traffic detail conducted by four officers in downtown Columbia.

According to a department news release, the officers issued 28 citations for speeding, two citations for red light violations, two citations for registration violations, one citation for an equipment violation, one citation for a prohibited turn and two warnings for speeding.
