JEFFERSON CITY — Two trial judges and a lawyer are finalists for a vacancy on the Missouri Court of Appeals in Kansas City.

A special nominating committee submitted the three names Monday to Gov. Jay Nixon, who will make the appointment.

The finalists are Circuit Judge Jacqueline Cook, Circuit Judge Gary Witt and Cynthia Reams Martin, an attorney. Cook serves in the 17th Judicial Circuit, consisting of Cass and Johnson counties. Witt is on the circuit court bench in Platte County. Martin is in private practice in Lee's Summit.

The vacancy in the Court of Appeals' Western District occurred when Judge Joe Dandurand resigned to work for Attorney General Chris Koster.
